Recommendation: According to my family, this recipe produces better Pad Thai than what we’ve had at restaurants as of late (from takeout, not dining in). While Hot Thai Kitchen’s recipe video is great I personally found the written recipe to be a little lacking in certain areas which might be a problem for newer cooks.

Thai food is one of the things that I often crave and wanted to find a simple recipe to cook for dinner. I first saw this recipe on Hot Thai Kitchen’s YouTube channel and decided that her recipe would be good for that nights meal.
As with many recipes for Asian food, the ingredients needed are typically hard to come by at your typical grocery store in the US and can be a challenge to find even if you have access to a good Asian supermarket. A problem that I find is that different stores, and cultures will all have different ways of referring to the same ingredient so I wish she spent a little more time educating cooks on this. In this instance I am referring to the “garlic chives” that she calls for in the recipe. At my local Asian supermarket these were labeled as “Chinese chives” and I think this could cause a lot of headache and confusion for those just starting to dive into Asian ingredients and cooking.
The recipe was relatively easy to follow but I found the written recipe to be lacking. Often times Hot Thai Kitchen would call for ingredients to be “chopped” but I found this a little vague and had to cross reference with her video to figure out the actual ideal size which was a little annoying.
This recipe requires a good amount of ingredients and prep time so I don’t think it would be something that most people would be preparing on your average week night but I think that it is a good recipe to try for some quality Pad Thai on the weekend.
